National Science & Engineering Week at the Dove Marine Lab

As part of the National Science and Engineering Week, from 15th-20th March 2010, the School of Marine Science and Technology is offering an oceanful of fascinating talks, demonstrations and hands-on activities to get people of all ages involved.  

Science and Engineering Week (15th - 19th March)

Newcastle University in conjunction with the British Science Association will be running a number of genetics workshops during Science and Engineering (15th - 19th March).

Delivered in your school, the 'Genes in a bottle' workshop looks at the molecular framework of Biology. The practical experiment allows pupils to extract genomic DNA from their own cheek cells and watch is precipitate from solution as floating white strands. This activity is facilitated by Student Ambassadors, allowing your students to find out what it is like to study science at University.
